Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was wonderful as always. Kristin and Ryan were able to come down for the holiday which was extra exciting because Landon was still so new. We split the day like usual between both families and loved spending time with each and everyone that came. The day after Thanksgiving the Mangum clan went to Ethel M. to see the cactus garden all lit up. I love going every year, Maddy is fascinated with the lights and it's just fun being out with the family. I didn't get pics of everyone but the whole family got to come which made it perfect.

November 1, 2011 I was scheduled to be induced. I was originally due November 5th but from the 19th week of my pregnancy I had been contracting and was put on semi-bedrest. Basically I had to take it really easy and could only pick one low stress activity a day to do. With Madelyn I started contracting, dilating and effacing from 28 weeks so when the contractions with this one started even earlier the doctor wanted to be cautious. By the week before I was due my body was so fatigued from the contractions that it started to shut down. Dr. Garg didn't want me going over due for fear of my body not being able to complete labor so I was scheduled for induction. The night before was the calmest night I had had since 19 weeks. I had been feeling anxious about the induction and labor so Josh and my dad gave me a blessing to help calm my nerves. Later that night my contractions were almost nonexistent, I had a whole nights sleep and the next morning I still was having very few contractions. The night before the nurse called and said they had to change the time of our induction which was fine. It gave us the morning to spend some time with Maddy. The hospital called again that morning and said not to come in until they called us. In the background it sounded real noisy and the nurse was a little curt in her tone of voice so I was starting to get a little worried that they were really busy and we would have to schedule a whole other day. But just after lunch a nurse called and told Josh to have me at the hospital between 1:30 and 2:00 that afternoon. We packed up, kissed Maddy and headed to the hospital. As we were walking into the hospital Josh and I were talking about how weird it was to "not be in labor" and that I was so well rested and not feeling any contractions. We almost felt bad for going in. I remember Josh saying, "this way isn'y nearly as exciting." Well we only waited about ten minutes before going in. Our nurse took us into the delivery room and got us all set up. She handed me my gown to change into and said she would be right back. It was hilarious, I could not for the life of me figure out how to put the gown together. I bring Josh into the bathroom to help me and we are both just cracking up because he can't figure it out either. We hear the nurse come in and as I'm standing there naked and laughing we ask her for help. She was so fabulous! She laughed right along with us and got me dressed. I got in the bed, she hooked up my IV and we did all the medical history stuff and then she asked about my first delivery. I told her labor went for about 6 to 7 hours but that our nurse wouldn't check me at one point when I was in a lot of pain and when she finally did I was at an 8. So I had gone from 1 4 to an 8 with in about an hour and a half. So she said she would check me right then and anytime I wanted her to. I was a solid 4 and Josh and I were prepared for a long labor as we had heard when being induced most labors are several hours. I was still feeling fantastic and a nurse came in and broke my water. She was telling us every delivery room was full and that we were the only induction that wasn't cancelled that day. She said they would deliver one baby and three more women would walk in. After she left our nurse brought in the anesthiologist who while prepping things said he had 5 other rooms to go to. I told him I still wasn't feeling any pain or contractions so if he needed to go to the other rooms he could. My nurse jumped in and said "No, he isn't going anywhere. If you go as fast as you did last time you need this now." He sat me up and I had one ROYAL contraction and said, "yep get those drugs in me!" Haha! I got the epidural and the patosin which she started on a low drip since I was already at a 4 (it was about 4:00 at this point). She gave me a buzzer button and said she had to check on other patients but if I started to feel pressure to buzz and she will come in and check. Josh's mom had called to see if she should come up after work but Josh told her I was only at a 4 and it would be a while so we would just keep her posted. Well 20 minutes later I was starting to feel pressure so I buzzed the nurse who came in and said, "are you feeling pressure already?" I said yes, that it wasn't awful but I was starting to feel it. So she checked me and I was now at a 7. We all couldn't believe it. The nurse said she had to go check on others again but buzz if the pressure starts to get worse. Josh called his mom and my mom and let them know and his mom said she was just going to come up. About 30 minutes later I was feeling lots more pressure so buzzed the nurse again. We were trying to hold off buzzing as long as we could because we knew how busy they were and we knew our nurse hadn't eaten since breakfast so we wanted to give her a chance to eat. The nurse came in and said, "are you kidding me? more pressure?" Yep, lots, so she checked me again and I was at a 9. WOW! We couldn't believe things were moving so quickly. Josh's mom was there by this time and we were all chatting as the contractions continued to come with more pressure. Our nurse ran out to call the doctor to let him know I was at a 9 and it seemed like the second she left the room my contractions went from bearable to I needed to push NOW! Jenni ran out to get the nurse who came in checked and I said you are ready! I didn't think Dr. Garg was going to make it, I felt like my body had already started pushing before anyone was ready. But sure enough 2 minutes later Dr. Garg was there getting ready. I LOVE HIM!! He is so great and I was so relieved to see him walk in. He asked if I felt I needed to push and I told him enthusiatically YES. He said, then push. My first push Landon crowned and stuck, it took only two more pushes and he was out. He was born at 6:50pm making the length of my labor roughly 2 1/2 hours. WOW! I think Heavenly Father was prepping me for this speedy delivery by giving me the rest I needed the night before and that morning. Landon weighed 7lbs 3oz and was 21 inches long. His eyes were a muddy color and his hair (after being washed off) looked red and he had fair skin. He had similar features to Maddy but he didn't look like her. Josh's mom came in and as she took him in her arms looked up at Josh and said he looked just like him when he was born. I am so grateful that labor was short and that I got my epidural at a 4 versus an 8. It made all the difference. :) I am grateful for our nurse and that she was able to be there the whole time. (Shift change was at 7. We barely made it. :) ) I am sooooo grateful for our doctor, he is so good at cheering you on and being very present during the delivery. And most importantly I am especially grateful for Josh. I could not have asked for a better husband. He was so supportive and didn't leave my side for a minute and he was so good about updating all my sisters and his sisters on the progress. The way his eyes light up during the pushing is what really gets me through. He is so encouraging and excited it's contagious. I love you babe!

Fall is Here and the Ghouls are Out

To start out the season we decided to go out to Gilcrease Orchard across town and pick some pumpkins. We had never been there before but had heard great things about it. We fell in LOVE with the place! We went late in the pumpkin season so it had been pretty picked over but the whole land is beautiful. Rows and rows of trees, isles of pumpkins, squash, zucchini...the list goes on. It made for a fun picture spot and when we went to buy our pumpkins we also got some homemade pear and apple cider. So YUMMY!!!! We definitley want to keep up with the seasons there so we can pick some apples and melons.

We went with mom and dad, Jeremy and Rachel and the kids to a pumpkin patch for FHE one night and Maddy got to spend time in the petting zoo area. She LOVED it and did not want to leave. I love having family so close, we get so many opportunities to make memories with them. I love that Maddy is close with all of her cousins and I love getting to know my older siblings better and having them here to look to in parenting. They are all such great parents and I am grateful for their examples.

Our good friend Janine organized a morning at one of the pumpkin patches in town and it was so fun. Maddy had a blast riding the rides and getting her own size pumpkin.

We went to our ward Trunk or Treat and Josh and some brothers and his dad did up the back of my dad's truck. It was AWESOME. Black lights, noise making rats and mummies and me handing out the candy. We won first in the decorating contest which was so fun. Maddy had a blast trick or treating with cousins that came from the Mangum side and after we all went back to the parentals house and played.

Josh's cousin Cheryl does a party at Halloween time and everyone comes dressed up. They have food, pictures and games and goodies for all the kids. It's a great time to see family we don't get to see very often. In the picture below Josh is holding Maddy and his cousin's daughter Abbi. She is such a cutie! And our not so little anymore nephew Dean who is oh so handsome!

Maddy is the BIG 3!!

Maddy's birthday was a little more low key this year with me being pregnant and on semi bedrest. We celebrated a little with a few of the Moser's at family dinner. Maddy LOVES her cousins so anytime with them is a blast. I made microphone cupcakes and she got some really fun gifts. Then on her actual birthday we had a party with just us as a little family. I really LOVE this because there's no stress and we get to spend that time with her without worrying about everything else. I was really bummed we didn't get a birthday party together for her, I also LOVE doing those but time just got away from us and it was best that I was off my feet. Next year though will be a hit! :)

Gage turned 8 this summer and we had the privilege of attending his baptism. It was wonderful and he made it even more special by asking all his cousins to sing together at it. These are a few of the nice shots we got of that day.

Anderson Family Reunion 2011

The Anderson Family Reunion this year was absolutely FABULOUS! It always is but we are so grateful for each time we get to spend with our extended family. We love them so much and are so grateful for all the memories. This will be a LOT of pictures but I will try and recap all the fun things we did. These first couple of pictures are at a park that has this awesome hot air balloon you can ride and overlook orange county and they have a carousel to ride as well. We didn't have time to ride the balloon but we did do the carousel and Maddy was TERRIFIED of it. She would only go on it if she could sit on the benches NOT the horses. Silly girl!

We stayed with Leslie and David which is always a treat for us! Maddy LOVES Raegan and we love our cousin time too.

We went and spent a few hours at the Orange County Fair with the Colliers. We saw an Ox for the very first time and we couldn't believe how HUGE they were. It was amazing.

We ate at a local pizza place who was hosting a fundraiser for a friend of Leslie and David's and Maddy and Raegan both bit the dust outside and skinned their knee in the exact same spot. They were not happy the whole ride home but we couldn't resist getting a picture. :)

Raegan has a pet rabbit named dirt and while Josh and David were moving some things around in the backyard Maddy had her hand near Dirt's head and Dirt got spooked and bit Maddy. She talked about it ALL weekend and warned anyone who went in the backyard to stay away from Dirt. It was so sad but so funny all at the same time. She eventually got brave and played with him some more. Leslie has these gorgeous flower bushes in her front yard that I couldn't resist taking the photo opp with Maddy.

The whole Anderson clan met at the beach and we got a ton of pictures but I thought I would just post a few here. We LOVE the beach especially with so many cousins. There was lots of boogie boarding, even by my 62 year old dad, sand castle building, s'more making around the fire pit and just talking while soaking in the sun.

Ruby's is always a must for us when we go to the beach so this was our lunch trip with the Mangum fam.

Beach fire pit night! This picture is of Leslie, myself and Dawn (we are missing my cousin Kim). We were all born the same year just a few months from each other and we have always been close. Anytime we get the chance to be together we take it. I love these girls so much and am so grateful to be able to call them family.

My cousin's kids put together a pirate party at Aunt Coralee's beach house for all the little cousins in the family. It was so awesome, the kids received invites before we even got to California and they came as messages in bottles, too cute! At the party they had pirate dress ups the kids could put on and they went on a treasure hunt where they found a huge treasure box full of candy and toys. The kids ate it up, it was so fun!

We spent our last day there at Balboa Pier, playing on the carousel, Josh went para sailing with Jeremy, eating ice cream, playing in the arcade and taking a harbour cruise with most of the Anderson fam. We had to end our vacation early because a few weeks before the reunion we were blessed to hear that Josh got a JOB!!! We were so thrilled and felt so blessed to have it come at the time it did.

Family Comes to Town!

Shannon and the kids got an opportunity to come out and visit and we were so THRILLED! Jerry had to stay behind and work but we are so looking forward to seeing ALL of them at Christmas. While they were here we had a bbq/swim party at Melissa's to celebrate pop's and brinley's birthdays. It was so fun and we really enjoyed being with everyone.

Brinley and Cohen are getting so big, we miss them so much but are so grateful for the great experiences Jerry and Shannon are having in Florida.

Josh LOVES playing with his nephews and they LOVE ganging up on him. He was throwing them in left and right and they kept coming back for more. It was really funny to watch.

While Shannon was here us girls took advantage of the time and had a girls date night. We ate at Yollo's Mexican Restaurant which was so yummy! I am still craving their chips and salsa. And then we went to Town Square, got some frozen yogurt and walked the shops. It was absolutely LOVELY and we are so grateful for husbands who took the kids that night so we could have a couple hours together.

We missed Janina but were so excited that the reason she wasn't there was she and Jared were with their new little man Dean!

We went to H&M and Melissa helped pick out these really flattering outfits for Shannon and I to try on. We couldn't stop laughing it was so funny. I think Shannon was the one who said, "I think fashion designers have gotten to the point where they try and find the most awful clothes and colors and say they are the "new thing" just to watch who would really purchase and where such hideous clothing."

Who knew masquerade masks were in? Or hats with protruding flowers?

I LOVE our family, we are such fun people! :)

4th of July Fun!!

We spent our 4th of July just as we usually do in Logandale. It is our very favorite place to celebrate the 4th and this year was just as fun! Maddy got lots of time with cousins, we got lots of time with some of Josh's siblings and some WONDERFUL memories were made!

I LOVE the girls' faces in this picture. They were having so much fun feeling the overspray of all the hoses. (I tried to get Maddy all the way in the water fight but she REFUSED) Little stinker.

Yes I entered a pie eating contest, well it was really just a pie tin FULL of pudding and whip cream. Tasted so yummy!!! But I lost horribly to the 5 other teenagers I was up against. So much fun though!

Our nephew Brad enetered the watermelon eating contest and totally won! He ate 7 pieces in 2 minutes. Way to go Brad!

After all the fun morning festivities we went back to Christy's and had a FABULOUS lunch and then swam it off at the local swimming pool. Came back to Christy's and let off our own fireworks and made homemade ice cream. Maddy thought the fireworks were great except for the few that made REALLY loud noises. Luckily daddy was there to hold her so she could see them without being too frightened.

We then headed back to the fair grounds for their patriotic show and fireworks display. Always turns out FANTASTIC!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!

Graduation Day!

Graduation Day was so wonderful! My feelings that morning were of an overwhelming peace, gratitude and excitement. I was filled with emotion as all the graduates came walking in and I couldn't help but feel so much pride for Josh. He has worked so hard and put in MANY long hours to accomplish his dream of becoming an architect and the day had come. I felt so grateful to our Heavenly Father for the guidance he had given us during our years in school and for the blessing education is in our lives. Knowing we were where we were supposed to be and that we have done and would continue to do all that we can to put Heavenly Father first, brought so much peace to my heart and an affirmation that He would continue to bless us as we enter this new adventure in life.

The President of the University spoke that morning and said that this was the largest graduating spring class in UNLV's history.

Josh above is with a few of his friends that he has gone through the program with. And today was extra special because Josh's aunt Jeannie graduated with her Bachelors. Josh couldn't resist the opportunity to hug his aunt and let her know how proud of her he was.

Such a great day! Thank you to all of our family and friends for the constant support and love you have given us through this adventure. We could not have done it without you!

As Josh and I have talked about the blessings that have come to us in our 5 years of marriage we both believe the greatest blessings have been our beautiful daughter Madelyn and our upcoming son who will join us this November. We are so grateful for the privilege to parent these children of God and hope that we will be able to instill in them the desire to fulfill their own hopes and dreams and to live worthily of the blessings that are in store for them.

EASTER and HUGHES VISIT

We dyed eggs for the first time with Maddy this Easter. It was so much fun to watch her get so excited. We didn't realize we got a tricky kit (it was tye dye versus just colors) so we tried doing a tye dye egg first. But then resorted to just using the colors.

April 22nd was our 5 year wedding anniversary. Josh took me to the Titanic Exhibit and then to a wonderful little Italian restaraunt called Nora's. The whole evening was wonderful and I was able to keep the morning sickness to a minimum. I love this man so much!!! I am so grateful he chose me and that we were blessed to be sealed in the temple for time and all eternity. He is a wonderful husband, father and friend. I count my blessings each day I get to wake up next to him.

For Easter we spent the late morning early afternoon with the Waters Clan. It was so much fun, the aunts and uncles had games for everyone and then we had a HUGE egg hunt. The kids were definitley spoiled by the end of it. We love being close to both families so that we can be apart of all these family memories.

In the late afternoon we went and had dinner and egg hunt with the Mangum side. It was extra special this year because Jessica and Kevin and Kristin and Ryan were able to be here during this holiday.

BIG NEWS!!

We are so excited to share that we are expecting baby #2 and it's a BOY!!! This is pretty late news but better late than never right?! :) I am due November 5th and we are so thrilled. Maddy is so excited to have a baby brother. She has been telling everyone lately and it always puts a smile on our faces. The news came as a little bit of a surprise, we thought we were having another girl but we were happily wrong. We are a little nervous, kind of feeling like new parents all over again but it definitley makes it very exciting.

2011 In Full Swing

My niece Shaunie plays the recorder in her elementary school and my mom and I went to see her in a concert she played in. She did so wonderful and it was so fun to watch her.

For Valentines we had a Valentines family party with the Mangum side. Full of heart shaped pizza, cookie decorating and valentine swaps.

My wonderful husband brought me these beautiful Lillies for Valentines. Any holidays that come up during a school semester are rarely celebrated by Josh and I. He is so busy finishing grad school that it is hard to plan much but he is so thoughtful with the small things.

My mom and I got the chance to go up to Utah and help Kristin and Ryan move into their new house and my mom invited 2 of my nieces to come along. Maddy LOVED the extra company and we just fell in LOVE with Krissy's new place.

We painted, cleaned and moved everything in. It was such a whirlwind of a trip but so wonderful!

Madelyn even helped with the painting and moving stuff in, she loved it.

It snowed most of the weekend and it was so pretty. The girls loved playing in the snow, making snow cones or for Maddy just eating the snow right off the ground. We ate at the Pizza Factory and I fell in LOVE with their breadsticks. I crave them all the time now and get so frustrated that we don't have one here. We also went and got frozen yogurt while it was snowing and it was the BEST yogurt I have ever eaten!

We LOVE you Krissy and Ryan and are so excited for your new home!!!

What I Missed in 2010

So I missed a couple things at the end of 2010 like New Years Eve. How could I have missed that! New Years Eve is my sister-in-laws birthday and I always look forward to going to dinner to celebrate with the fam and after, we went to her house played Just Dance which was so awesome and totally hilarious, we had a fire pit with sparklers and fireworks to ring in the new year. It was so much fun!

I also missed putting a few Moser family pics up that we had taken over Thanksgiving. HUGE thanks go out to Melissa's boss who took some time away from his own family to come and take these for us. They turned out wonderful, some I am posting are not edited but they are so great I just had to have them on here.

What better way to start a new year than with family, snow, goodies, movies and sleding! Yeah for 2011!

Before a semester starts we try to spend some significant time as a family. We decided to take a day and go to the Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City and feed the ducks and walk around the ponds. Maddy LOVES animals and always gets excited when we go to feed ducks. On our way she crashed so Josh and I ate lunch in the parking lot of the park while she caught a few zzzz'ss and then when we finished we decided to wake her up and this was the first face we got. Haha!! She is such a beauty!

I thought this was so funny. Josh was holding the popcorn that we were feeding the ducks with and he was trying to get to a different side of the pond. While he and Maddy walked the ducks kept right on their tail. They stayed with them until Josh and Maddy decided on the perfect feeding spot. :)

Maddy kept wanting the ducks to come eat out of her hand and she would chase them saying, "come here duck, come here, I pet you." Needless to say they kept their distance. I LOVE these simple pleasures, it's a great reminder that time together is what is needed and valued.

Maddy was invited to a birthday party for her friend Layla. It was so fun, the kids had a total blast. It was an art party and Madelyn was in heaven. Maddy LOVES Layla and it was so fun to watch them together. (Even though Maddy would NOT leave Layla alone) Layla was so patient with Maddy being all up in her business. :)

Maddy had to be right by her almost the entire time. It was so funny to watch but we really are grateful for a friend like Layla and her parents. We consider them both family and friends. Thank you for inviting us Layla!

She's Growing Up

Christmas Eve day we decided to change Madelyn's crib into a toddler bed. I had caught her twice climbing out and at night time it became routine to let her (she would throw a fit if we didn't let her) climb into her bed. I wanted to get a picture of her on her new bed and it turned into a little photo shoot. I would take a picture and she would look at it and say she wanted to take another one. It was hilarious, but I was going to take advantage of a happy 2 year old.

It is so hard to believe that it has only been 2 years since we had Madelyn. Life with her has brought so much joy to our lives. We thank Heavenly Father every day for trusting us with her and we only hope we will be able to teach her and share with her our testimonies and the important things in life.

CHRISTMAS!!!

Christmas is always wonderful, full of family, food, games and the Christmas story. We spent Christmas Eve with the Mangum side and Christmas day with the Moser clan. This post will be mostly pics because I just can't decide which one's I wanted to share so here's a bunch. We love all of our family and friends and feel so grateful to have shared this last year with you!!

My mom always does the Nativity with the grandkids and this year she got a couple adults involved. It was wonderful!

Clint worked Christmas Eve but was able to come eat and spend a little time with us while on his break. He played a song on the guitar for Emma, Lily and Maddy while they sang. It was so cute. I had no idea Maddy knew the song but Josh said the girls let her come in with them while they practiced earlier in the evening. :)

In my family we pick names for gift exchange. My parents picked us and we got an AWESOME movie basket from them. So FUN!

My mom made blankets for all the grandkids and then my parents got all the kids a pair of pajamas. The kids were so excited!! Krissy and Ryan gave eachother jammies so they jumped in the picture also.

All of us siblings went in on a gift for my parents where we got all of their 8mm reels converted to a DVD. It turned out sooooooo AWESOME!! They were thrilled about it and all of us couldn't wait to see it. Home movies are such a fun thing to watch especially when they are ones we haven't seen in years.

They're growing up too fast!

Christmas morning was wonderful. Maddy was so funny. She actually woke up around 4am but Josh was not ready to get up so I had to try and confine Maddy in our room for 2+ hours. Then just before 7 she crashed and hard! Krissy came in and I was ready and we woke up the hubbies but it was so hard trying to get Maddy back up. It happened though and as we walked out of the room Maddy looked over the banister and saw a quad sitting by the tree for her. Her eyes got big and she said "mommy my car!!! my car!!" Josh was video taping and Maddy took off for the stairs. He had to run to get ahead of her so he could get it on tape downstairs. It was so cute.

I got an ADORABLE new purse! I was so excited!

Krissy and I got Josh and Ryan matching remote control helicopters. They were totally stoked. They played with them all morning. :)

In preparation for Christmas we started asking Maddy what she wanted Santa to bring her and for the longest time she would say a computer in that oh so adorable 2 year old voice. Josh and I would just look at eachother and we knew we are going to be in real big trouble if our 2 year old was already asking for electronics. But Santa came through for her and she now plays with her computer daily. :)

Love them!

For Christmas this year my mother and father-in-law made everyone's gifts and they were so GREAT! We LOVED them! My father-in-law made Mia and Maddy rocking chairs and my mother-in-law made cushions for them. The girls just loved them!

For all the rest of the kids they made these super soft blankies with their names embroidered on them. I think the kids absolutely loved them. They stayed wrapped in them most of the night.

For all of us couples they made aprons. They are so rad! I only got a picture of the girls but others got pictures of the guys too so someone send them my way. :)

The Payne family picked our family this year and they got us the perfect gift. Hot chocolate, a SUPER cozy blanket and a beautiful Christmas book that Maddy LOVES! Thankyou Payne family, we LOVE you!

All of us kids also went in on a gift for my in-laws. Melissa found these adorable signs, the first says Grandpas Workshop broken toys fixed here and the second says Grandkids Welcome parents by appointment. Then we were able to get them a fantastic date night package (a very well deserved date I must say) and then we put together a Heritage Makers book for them in hopes it would help them know and remember how much we love and support them!

Gingerbread house making is always a blast and the older my nieces and nephews get the better the houses are. And it doesn't hurt to taste your project...:)

December Happenings

I absolutely LOVE these pics! Christmas time is such a fun, exciting, reverent time of year and I love every minute of every moment during the season. With the beginning of December being the end of Josh's school semester we don't get to see him too often so I and Maddy have been doing a few things to get into the spirit of the season. First my mom puts a tree upstairs in the loft for decoration and this year she let Maddy and I decorate it. So we put on our jammies and went to work. Maddy LOVED this, she was so careful with every bulb and everytime she hung one up she said "I did it mom!" very excitedly. It was just too cute!

For FHE one week we went to Ethel M. Chocolate Factory to see all the Christmas lights. Maddy has been so fascinated this year with the lights. She loves just riding in the car and seeing all the houses dressed up for Christmas. Ilove how excited she gets when she sees them, it's like she has never seen them before, each time we come to a new house. This was extra fun because a couple of my sisters and their families were able to come and my parents.

For the Moser FHE we took the opportunity to help decorate Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Waters home for Christmas. They are such a special couple and we just adore them. I like to take these visits and use them as photo opportunities. I want Madelyn to know how much she was loved by her great grandparents.

Then we come to the Winter Fest in Downtown Henderson. We LOVE the Christmas parade! It is so fun to me to take Madelyn to these because it supports the community and it's one of the ways we as a community share in the spirit of Christmas.

School is FINALLY done for the semester and we are ready to start celebrating the holiday with Josh!!!

Thanksgiving!!

So to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday week my brother-in-law Jerry and sister-in-law Shannon gave the biggest surprise to my in-laws. For 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving all the Moser siblings knew a FANTASTIC secret! Jerry and Shannon and their kids were coming for the whole week of Thanksgiving and my mother and father-in-law had NO IDEA! Jerry and Shannon have been living in Florida for about 9 months, while there our niece Brinley was born. Things being so tight my in-laws were not able to go out and visit when she was born so all they have been able to do is look at her, talk to her and wish they were holding her through Skype (we are so grateful for technology). The idea of them coming to Vegas for Thanksgiving has been tossed around for a few months but Jerry has been out of work the whole time they have been there and money for them was tight so the trip was cancelled, and all were bummed especially my parent-in-laws. We all missed them terribly but understood the circumstance. Well Jerry got a job offer a month or so before Thanksgiving and the trip was back on...hopefully. They decided not to tell my in-laws jut in case something else came up and they had to cancel again but all of us siblings were in the know and we couldn't wait to see the surprise pulled off! Well after 32 straight hours of driving the Mosers arrived late Sunday afternoon. They showered and got cleaned up at Aun Susan's and then headed to mom and dad's. It could not have gone more perfect. That day was Shannon's birthday and my in-laws wanted to Skype her and wish her a happy birthday. So while we all waited outside Jerry was talking to my father-in-law telling him they were ready and if they had their computer up. My father-in-law kept saying the computer said they were off line and he couldn't call them, Jerry was so good and insisted that they were ready to see them and he didn't know why they were having a problem, then Shannon and Cohen went running into the house and Shannon was trying to get Cohen to say Hi Grandma but instead he just ran around them for what seemed like several minutes. The first few pics are hilarious because you see Cohen with my in-laws and the don't even notice him. My father-in-law even looks at him but passes him off as one of the grandkids. Shannon, Jerry and Brinley were all standing in the doorway watching and staring at my in-laws and almost simultaneously my father-in-law noticed Shannon and my mother-in-law noticed Cohen and the tears just flowed from everybody. The cousins couldn't get enough of Brinley and they were all SO EXCITED to play and wrestle with Cohen. We were so glad they were able to make the trip and seeing my inlaws faces was totally PRICELESS. I am so grateful for close knit families on both sides and that the greatest joy is just being together.:)

For Thanksgiving every year we go to both families homes. We feel so blessed to have so much family in town that it is hard for us to miss ANYTHING that goes on in either family. This year we had an early Thanksgiving lunch with the Mangums which was fabulous and dinner later that evening at the Moser's which was also wonderful. You just can't go wrong when every place you go has such amazing food. :) I didn't get many pics but I did get a few. This year we feel so thankful for so many things but especially for the blessing of family, tithing, employment and education. Nothing this year would have been possible for us if not for these things. It has been such a blessing for me to be a stay at home mom. I have just felt so humbled to know that Heavenly Father trusted me enough to aid in raising our sweet Madelyn. Josh's schooling has gone so well and he is just getting better and better (if you can believe that, it's possible!) We are gratefl for his employment at the University and at the credit union. They both have brought great comfort and peace into our lives. We are soooooo grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Our knowledge and testimony of this great gospel has been a cornerstone in our family and we truly feel so blessed to have it.

Can you tell the girls could not get enough of Brinley? They were so sweet with her.

Thanksgiving night was really a lot of fun. We had Christy and Eric and their family staying with us and my nephew Austin came and joined the fun that night too. Austin and Brad wanted to get into the Black Friday spirit and convinced Christy to let them come with her at midnight to Wal-Mart. They first were briefed on how you don't go to browse the store, you have a mission and you go with the soul purpose of accomplishing that mission. They were given assignments of things to look for and they were to not wonder far from Christy. It was hilarious and so cute to watch them. They let me take some funny pics to remember this night by. Needless to say the next morning they decided Black Friday was NOT for them. :) But Brad did get a fun remote control car on sale. Ha Ha!! In the morning while Christy and Josh were out hitting the sales, we at home started a fire in the fire pit and rosted marshmallows for breakfast. It was such a great holiday!

For Halloween we went to our wards Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday night with a bunch of the Mangum cousins. We started the night with some pumpkin pancakes (which were not the best thanks to me trying to do too many things at once. :)) and apple juice. Trunk or treating was really fun but I forgot to take my camera. :( When we got back to the house the kids emptied their loot and started the art of trading Halloween candy. My sisters and I were laughing about the memories it brought back watching the kids trade of how we used to do that too. It HAD to happen before anyone could eat anything. They are so dang cute!

After the candy trading we decorated cookies and made scary popcorn hands and the kids watched The Nightmare Before Christmas while the adults played games. A BIG thanks to my hubbie and my big bro for making a soda/slurpee trip so that we could make it through the long night. It was so much fun!

With Halloween being on Sunday this year we decided to stay in and play more games and watch Halloween cartoons. Thanks to the Petty's for bringing over Bananagrams, we had a GREAT time!!

I LOVE AUTUMN!!! When October hits I am so excited to get into the spirit of ALL the holidays coming up. Halloween is so fun and what better way to start the season than with a trip to the pumpkin patch with friends and cousins. Maddy loved being at the pumpkin patch and being able to ride the rides and play games. She is getting so big and it is so fun to watch her get excited about these holdiays as well.

As Halloween gets close the Moser family gets together for pumpkin carving, cookie decorating, bobbing for apples and hot chocolate drinking. This year was the first year bobbing for apples and it was so fun. The kids really got into it and Maddy even tried but as soon as she got her face wet there was NO WAY she was going back in so Grandpa just gave her one out of the tub. She was so excited. Mia was behind her watching and as soon as Maddy got wet she was out of there too, it was hilarious.

These girls LOVE their apples!! And their aunt Melissa. :)

I love how all the family gets into the carving of pumpkins. Melissa's garage looks like pumpkin alley when we all show up.

Cookie decorating was a hit and soooo yummy!! The kids are all so creative, they had me laughing all night.

It's time for TRICK -OR -TREATING!!!!!!! And our little Tinkerbell is totally ready!

Josh turned 28 on October 12th and it was a GREAT day! Josh worked that morning so Maddy and I surprised him at work with donuts for everyone and a BIG Happy Birthday balloon that Maddy picked out herself. :)

After work Josh came home to a HUGE bag of gummy worms (his favorite) and a birthday card from me. On the back of the card was his gift, a whole afternoon of shopping, just the two of us! My mom and Shannon were so kind to take care of Maddy for the rest of the day while Josh and I spent some much needed one on one time together. Josh's face was priceless when he saw the gift cards, I knew I had done good. :)

Josh looks so happy with all of his shopping bags that were loaded with great stuff! After shopping I surprised him with dinner at Ricardo's with some great friends of ours, the McEwens. Josh was so happy all day and he got excited about every one of my surprises (which honestly is a first). I think the best part of the day was at the end when he told me this was the best birthday ever. It was all totally and completely worth it. I love you honey and I am so grateful you were born!

Maddy's First Haircut

A few weeks back Josh's mom came over to give hm a haircut and Maddy sat and watched as hair floated to the ground, just twirling her own hair and asking if she can get her hair cut. Well, we had been talking about it because she is a hair twirler and when she does that, it matts up and then she rips it out so the back of her hair was really needing a trim. So we got her all excited and we prepped ourselves just in case she was going to be a squirmer BUT she was EXCELLENT!!!! She LOVED having her hair done and just let Grandma Moser do her thing. The finished product was as cute as ever!

Maddy turned the BIG 2 on the 4th of OCtober. If you ask her how old she is she says "big 2" it's super cute but I am biased. :) Josh and I decided we would have a little party for her with just us and her grandparents on her birthday and host a birthday party for her later on in the week with her cousins and friends. The day was so GREAT! We started it with balloons in her crib when she woke up and she LOVED that. She got to go to my sister's house and play with her cousin's for a while and then after a great nap we had pizza and waited for Daddy to get home and grandma and grandpa Moser to get there so she could open her presents. All day she was receiving calls from her aunts and uncles all singing happy birthday to her. After the calls stopped she spent the rest of the day singing happy birthday to herself and trying to sneak open her presents. She had me laughing all day long. Telling me "today is my BIRTHDAY!" and she would yell it all through the house. When Josh finally got home from school and we had everyone there she was ready to be sung too. As we sang she sang along singing Happy Birthday to ME. She then blew out her own candle and opened up her presents very excitedly! She had us all cracking up as she opened one gift after another, showing us all what she got and saying they were cute or hugging and rocking her new baby doll. It was so entertaining and I really hope she gets excited like this about all her birthdays. It was such a wonderful day and I am so grateful she is in our family. I can't believe she is 2 already but I am loving every stage she hits. I wouldn't have it any other way. We love you pretty!!!

DISNEYLAND!!

We took a family trip to California to use our free Disneyland tickets and thought there would be no better time than the weekend before Maddy's birthday. We convinced both sets of parents to come along and Josh's oldest sister and her family to come as well. Josh and I were excited for Maddy to go because when we were there in January she took us by surprise and absolutley LOVED Disneyland. Now that she is a little older and more aware we thought this time would be even better. Well, the morning of our first day there, she had us a little worried.We went straight to Fantasyland and rode Peter Pan, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Snow White (all rides she has been on before) and she was uneasy about getting on ALL of them. We would be in line and she would start saying, "I no want to ride, I no want to ride" along with a little bit of tears and then we would get seated, she would be great through the whole ride and then as soon as she could see that we could get off she would start pushing on the bar and saying"I get off, I get off". It did only last the morning, the rest of the day was fantastic. It was so fun having both of her grandparents there and a few cousins. Maddy adores her cousins and they were so helpful with her.

We got to take pictures with some of the characters and Maddy would not go up to them by herself. She wasn't sure how to act around them but as soon as we were walking away she would blow kisses and talk about them the rest of the day, wanting to see her picure with them over and over again. :)

Minnies house was so cool and I think Maddy really liked it. Her kitchen was her favorite room.

One of our favorite rides is at California Adventure, it's the Grizzly River Run and as you can see you WILL get wet. It was so refreshing after walking around in the heat and humidity.

Saturday was beach day. We went to Huntington Beach, enjoyed Ruby's on the pier and playing a TON in the ocean. Maddy did not like the feel of sand on her feet nor the cold ocean water so she spent her beach day lounging in the sun on a blanket and shooing birds away from her snacks.

Water's Family Reunion Part II

The Water's Got Talent!!!!!!!!! Saturday night we had a family talent show and my camera died in the middle of it. Uggghhhh!! But I did get some great pics while it was up and running.

These are a bunch of the kids getting ready for the show. Aren't they just so cute!!

So these aren't in any order...this first pic is of my mother-in-law and her 2 sisters singing "Sisters" from White Christmas, they are so hilarious when they get together and they had everyone cracking up. The next is Josh and his cousin Jeremy singing "Over the Rainbow" Jeremy learned it on the guitar in 3 days, what a stud! Uncle Neal imitating Tiny Tim and singing Tip Toeing through the Tulips, HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!

This is Mia, her talent was folding a blanket (she just learned how and she was soooooo proud of herself, it was so adorable) and she has the 1st article of faith memorized, she's 3.

Izzy singing "Tomorrow", Marissa playing Ragtime and little Alex giving us a GREAT comedy show. He was hilarious telling all his jokes and ended it with a "Peace and Good Night" What a comedic pro!

The newest member of the family, Taylor solved the rubix cube in a minute. REALLY impressive!

Sunday morning, after all the cleaning, we had a devotional which started with all the men singing Nearer My God To Thee and then the actual devotional given by Scott (Rachel's husband). It was so touching. The men sang accapella and it was absolutley beautiful. It brought the spirit in so strong. Scott spoke about the war chapters in the Book of Mormon and how he was encouraged to find the spiritual teachings behind them. He shared with us his testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and the sacrafices they made for us so we could return to them. What a great opportunity for us to hear the testimony of a loved family member. I feel we take for granted these kinds of opportunties where we are surrounded by family and they are the ones who need to hear our testimonies most but in reality probably rarely hear them if at all. SO thankyou Scott for opening up your sacred thoughts and testimonies.

After the devotional we took pictures of everyone with Grandma and Grandpa Waters. What a great legacy they will leave behind and a great future they are leading. We love you Grandma and Grandpa and are so grateful you lead this family!

The big group pic does not have everyone but there is a good majority. I think at the peak of the reunion there were 90 people.

Water's Family Reunion Part I

This is a biggie but a goodie!! At the end of July we had a Water's Family Reunion at the SUU Cabin up towards Cedar Breaks. It has been a VERY long time since they have had one and since I am a huge fan of family reunions I couldn't wait to get there and get to know Josh's family better. Our camera kept dieing over the weekend so I got pics but the camera would usually die in the middle of an activity. Hopefully this conveys how much fun we all had and what a success the reunion was. I also can't wait to see everyone else's pics so Waters Family get to posting!! Friday night was family night, everyone was arriving at different times so we took care of our little families and enjoyed being there when everyone arrived. The cabin is so cool. There is so much room inside and on the outside there was hiking, dining and grilling,firepit, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits and TONS of space to go exploring. The weather was beautiful, overcast all weekend, warm during the day and cool at night. Saturday we did have quite the down pour and a few tents and belongings inside of tents got soaked but it was a beautiful mountain rain.

This is Jaden, Mia and Maddy (2nd Cousins), Smore Fun, Janae making a wish on a weed for a great wedding the following weekend. :)

This is Trevor, ladies he is single, an RM and totally adorable, the other guy is his studly brother Dallin who I just adore also. He is the youngest of the Water's first cousins. Sorry girls he is still in highschool. :)

Saturday was full of crafts, pinata's and games. The older kids made wirly birds and the REALLY big kids got their's stuck in a tree and decided to figure out a way to get it down. Yes that is a water hose and no it did not work. Justin ended up climbing the pine tree to save his beloved wirly bird. :)

The younger ones were given aprons to decorate. Maddy LOVES this apron and wears it around the house.

All of these kids are the Water's Second Cousins, I know awesome right? What is even better is at the reunion we found out there are 6 more on the way. WOOHOO!!!!! Check out Crew's face in the second pic. He means business with this pinata. Ha!Ha!

But it was Gage who with one blow down on the body of the pinata the candy went flying and so did Uncle Neal! Ok so I don't think anyone got it on film but Uncle Neal was the one holding the rope for the pinata and the pinata was soooooo heavy that when the body came off Uncle Neal went flying backwards out the gazibo, down some cement stairs and into the field behind him, BUT not once actually hitting the ground. It was quite graceful, thanks to Jeremy who went after him to make sure he didn't actually fall. Sooooooo Funny!!!!!

The rains came down and the games came out (go ahead, you can sing it). :) While it poured buckets and buckets of rain there were some pretty big laughs going on inside. A huge game of Apples to Apples, an exciting game of UNO (can you tell by Chris's face :)) and an INTENSE game of NERTS. I think I decided that card games are by far my absolute favorite kind of games. Every night was filled with sleepy sillies, sound affects for paper, rock, scissors, Aunts and Uncles playing game after game of Spoons and Buzz Word with neices and nephews who were loving every minute of that time with them and WOULDN'T let them go to bed.

Grandma and Grandpa sitting with the windows open enjoying the storm and cool weather and Uncle Dave making sure they were all taken care of. All the kids in the front room playing a rousing game of duck, duck, goose with Aunt Brenda and cousin Paul (you can see by his shirt he had been in the rain, everything was sooooo wet).

These last 2 pics are of cousin Richard with his nephew Jaden jumping a fast moving river after the rain had stopped. This river during the storm had taken over this entire bank. Anywhere you see dirt was where the water was rushing for a good 2 hours.

Lane and Shaana's Wedding

We just spent a weekend up in Utah celebrating the wedding of my cousin Lane and his new wife Shaana. It was so beautiful! The day could not have been any better. My sister Jennifer did their pictures and let Josh and I be her back up photographers and these are some of the pics we got. Jen's turned out absolutely beautiful and we can't wait for them to get these pics. Lane and Shaana were married in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple and then had their reception in Linden. The sealing was wonderful! Their sealer was so sweet and so funny. He kept calling Lane different names rather than his own, he called him Lance, Laana and then Lane. I think watching my aunt and uncle were the best part, my aunt was teary eyed and tender and my uncle could not stop laughing. He looked sooo happy, I don't know if he even realized he was doing it but I could not stop looking. I was cracking up! It was such a perfect day and we feel so grateful to have been a part of it. We love you Lane and Shaana and we are so glad you are apart of our family!

Fourth of July

This 4th of July was bittersweet. The Moser family said goodbye to Jerry, school was finally over and he was finally moving to Florida to be with his wife, son and soon to be here baby girl. July 3rd the Moser's had dinner at Mom and Dad's, all the girls took all the kids to the park to play while all the guys watched Indiana Jones, we brought the kids back for delicious dessert (Josh and I made strawberry lemonade cheesecake and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, mmmmmmmmmmmmm...it was so yummy!) There was lots of talking, laughing and crying. We are going to miss Jerry and his family so much but we are so excited for their new adventures.

On the 4th we had a great church meeting and that night we met our neighbors at the park down the street to watch the fireworks. It was such a blast! Josh and I are still getting to know ward members and neighbors and this was such a great way to get to know them better. We all brought ice cream down in ice chests, drinks and treats for EVERYONE to share. After the fireworks we were all sitting and watching the neighbors set off their fireworks when all of a sudden sprinklers go on. It was hilarious to watch everyone grab everything they could and run off the wet grass. Our neighbors the Hardy's invited us all to their house to light some more fireworks, have goodies and just good company. We had so much fun getting to know everyone that we even planned a game night for the following night. Josh and I feel so grateful to be a part of a church where no matter where you go you have good friends. Maddy did so great with the fireworks, they didn't phase her at all and she LOVED having so many kids around to play with.

CINDERELLA

Josh and I and our niece Emma were in a community play in North Las Vegas, Cinderella. Josh and I were the King and Queen and Emma was a village girl. This is a big charity event for an organization called Helping Hands. They aid all senior citizens in the valley with independent living. We have made so many great friends and always enjoy being a part of something bigger than ourselves.

The best part of the show was getting to waltz with Josh every night for 2 weeks. I LOVE dancing with him!

Closing night Maddy got to come and watch, thanks to Clint for holding her in the audience and thanks to Michelle for watching her back stage when she had enough. She LOVED watching all the girls getting ready for the show and putting their makeup on. I had been getting my costume on when I came out of the bathroom and saw Maddy putting on her own makeup. She is so dang cute, all the girls were ooing and awwweing over her.

"Together is a wonderful place to be." I wanted to get this post up before it was too late. I want to express my thanks and love to my husband Josh who is such an AWESOME dad. Maddy adores her daddy and can't wait to spend time with him. Her favorite things to do with him are cook, read stories, watch movies and sleep cuddled up next to him. She LOVES it when he sends her flying through the air and when he gets home and chases her around the house. I am so grateful for his example to her and the love he shares with her everyday. We love you honey!

Summer Has Started!

So far, this summer has been FANTASTIC! We have some great friends who invited us out to the Lake with them and Maddy got her first ride on a seado. If you click on the picture of she and Josh you'll notice Maddy was a little worried about being on there. :) We have also had so much fun going to our good friends, Kolby and Janine's, to swim with them in their pool. Summer+Water=Perfect! Josh and I are currently in a community theater production of Cinderella and are having a total blast! I will post pics after it's all over. Hope everyone else's summer is going as great as ours.

Graduations and Babies!

On May 8th my big brother Jeremy graduated with his Masters in Health Physics and my brother-in-law Jerry graduated with his Bachelors in Business, both from UNLV. Because of Jerry's graduation Shannon was able to fly out to be here for a few days so we decided to throw a graduation party and baby shower combined for the two of them. I was so excited that it turned out so well. Thank you to everyone that came out to support their little family and make the party a huge success! After the party I got to go celebrate with my brother and his family at their house for an awesome bbq! I am so proud of my brothers and am grateful for the example they have set for all of our family. I LOVE you guys!!

The Drive to Virginia

Ok so this post has a LOT of pictures but we saw so many awesome things on the drive home and in Virginia. On our way back to Virginia from Boston we stopped in a few places, one of which was Hershey, Pennsylvania. Yes, the home of the Hershey Chocolate bar. When you pull into the town and roll down the windows the breeze has the sweet smell of chocolate, it is delightful! We went to the chocolate factory and it was AWESOME! At the end of the tour we got a free chocolate bar and perused the wonderful gift shop shown below. After Hershey we made our way to Amish country. I was so fascinated by them. They have such a wonderfully simple way of living and the talents they share are wonderful! The countryside they live on is incredibly beautiful and so well kept. I really loved the whole experience. By the end of the drive we had figured we had driven through 9 or ten states. The whole East coast was amazing. I got to see the Manhattan skyline all lit up at night, we drove through the gorgeous tree covered roads of Connecticut, stopped for breakfast in New Jersey, flew in and out of Maryland, house looked in Massachusettes, stopped at a couple creepy gas stations in Rhode Island, I drove through rush hour in Washington DC, cut through a corner of Vermont and stayed the last few days of our trip in beautiful Virginia!

While in Virginia we ate at a Japanese restaraunt, took the girls shopping for some new dresses and visited the most amazing animal park EVER!! It is a hundred acre safari park that you drive through with windows down and doors open. You have buckets of feed and the animals walk right up and eat from the buckets. It was TOTALLY AWESOME!!! There were Ostrich, zebra, bison, watusi cattle, camels both one hump and two humps, llama, elk, deer, asian pigs, kangaroo, lion's, spider monkeys and GIANT tortoise's. Most animals were roaming free then they have a village you walk through that has all the ones that are caged. I can't get over how amazing it was.

OK one quick funny thing about the giraffe's. The picture below is of Jessica feeding the giraffe and if you look real close you can see it's tongue completely wrapped around Jessica's hand. Her reaction was so funny I had to get her to do it again so I could get her face from the front. It is probably the most disgusting feeling ever. I fed it after her and it really was so weird but hilarious!

Villages, Towns and Boston

In April my mom and I had the opportunity to go back East and see my sister Jessica and her family. For the first three days the three of us girls went to Boston to help Jessica find a place for them to live when they move there in June. A couple things I learned while in Boston are there are outer towns and within the towns there are villages. I couldn't really figure out where the villages started or ended but I heard a lot of realtors talk about them :). Another thing is that most homes are called multi-family homes. It's rare to find a single family home which is what Jess and Kev were hoping for. Multi-family homes are where one family lives down stairs and the other lives upstairs. A single family home is obviously one family per home. :) The homes were so darling! Each house looks completely different and the neighborhoods are so quaint. We saw so many churches on every corner but not once did I see an LDS church...I wonder where they were hiding them. We stopped and ate in Arlington, Massachussettes and I loved the streets there. Every street was lined with trees and because of the recent rain all of them were in bloom. It was absolutely gorgeous! We stopped and visited the Boston Temple grounds and they were so peaceful. Another absolutely gorgeous site. After spending two days in the outer towns we took a couple hours to tour down town Boston. We rode the subway for the first time, visited the hospital where Kevin will be working, saw Harvard Medical school, found out that at a stoplight all lights go red at the same time and everyone crosses through the center of the intersection, I fell in LOVE with Boston Commons which is a giant park in the middle of the cities that have huge dogwood trees which I also fell in love with and visited Faniel Hall which was right by the ocean. After we were done house looking and touring Boston we headed the long drive back to Virginia to see my wonderful neices, nephew and brother-in-law!

Easter Weekend Part II

Easter Sunday we made our way to My Aunt Karen's home to have Easter lunch and an Easter egg hunt with my cousins and their kids. Maddy did GREAT at the egg hunting. We were so impressed that she knew just what to do. I was so lucky to also have my birthday on that day. I got Easter, General Conference and my Birthday all the same day. It was so great to spend it with so much family. Thank you Fox cousin's for throwing such a great party and planning all the Easter fun. Josh and I feel so grateful to have family on both sides that are great examples of love, sacrafice and faith. We Love You!

We were so lucky this year, Easter fell during the same time as Josh's spring break so we took advantage of the time. We took off for California for lots of family time and just playing around. The first part of the vacation consisted of wheel barrow rides for the girls, given by David and Josh, lots of park fun, Maddy's first trip to the beach, lunch at Ruby's, General Conference, a surprise 60th birthday party for my aunt Karen (which I don't have any pics from), late night cravings, Easter basket hunts on Easter morning and of course goodbye hugs. It was then on to Easter Sunday with the Fox family...

Valley of Fire

We took Maddy to the St. Patrick's Day parade on Water Street and had a great time. We went with Shannon and Jesse and their kids and watched as Maddy gazed at everything. I think the most exciting part for the kids was that for most of the parade there was candy being thrown out. Maddy thoroughly enjoyed the Dum Dum suckers.

She is now in Nursery and it is not going well but we have faith that each week will get a little better. This last week she actually stayed in there the whole time. Jerry, Shannon and Cohen are moving to Florida. :( Shannon and Cohen left the first of March so Shannon could find a job and a doctor while Jerry was finishing school here in Vegas. The Moser family adults decided to have a night out Bowling and then Jerry and Josh took Shannon and I to see the Lion King on the strip. Bowling was a total blast! We played 2 games, girls against guys. The first game us girls beat the guys by one point, it was totally awesome! The second game the guys wiped the floor with us but I think that's just because Justin Page made it for the second game and Jared bowled his first 200 score (which was totally awesome)! I love our Moser family, we have such a great time together and I feel so blessed to have such wonderful inlaws. The Lion King was phenomenal! I was totally enthralled in it and I feel like shows like that need to populate our strip. We are going to miss these guys so much but we are also excited for them to embarq on their new journey!

Our nephew Cohen turned 2 in February and his parents threw him an Elmo birthday party. It was so fun and Maddy had a blast. Our nephew Austin showed up as Elmo, they had a little show with Elmo and Cookie Monster that Jerry put on and LOTS of balloons. So when I last blogged I forgot to include a family trip we took in January to California. We decided to get away for a couple days before the semester started. The weekend was filled with laughter, great memories and wonderful family. We took Maddy to Disneyland for the first time, toured the Getty's Center near Hollywood and went on a double date with my cousin Leslie and her husband David while my aunt and uncle babysat. THANKYOU SO MUCH KEVIN AND JILL! It was an overall FANTASTIC family vacation!

For Valentine's this year I decided to do some pictures of Maddy and then attempted to learn Josh's photoshop for touch ups, without him knowing. I didn't do too shabby if I say so myself. Josh and I have some great friends who have a little girl named Addelaid and they call her Addie. She is only about 15 hours younger than Maddy. Our friend Katie and I found out within days of eachother that we were pregnant. Katie ended up being a week over due and I was almost 2 weeks early. The morning we delivered Maddy Josh called Austin and Katie to let them know we were in the hospital and they just laughed. Katie's water had broken just before our phone call and they were on their way to the hospital. Ever since then these girls have LOVED being around eachother. They are just so dang cute and complete opposites in their looks but the best of buddies. There is an older picture of them in a box on here (Austin was taking them on rides down the stairs) but the rest are all fairly recent. We love you little Addie and hope you will always be around!

Big Horn Sheep Park

We decided to take a family day with just the three of us right after the new semester started. We went out to the Big Horn Sheep Park in Boulder City and Maddy LOVED the sheep. She wanted to walk right in the middle of them. One of Josh and I's greatest joy's is watching Maddy on a swing. The look on her face is pure happiness and it can only make you laugh while you watch on.

New Years was so much fun. We started it out by getting Maddy all dressed up. Josh and I were getting ready and Maddy came into the bathroom and kept saying "hair, hair". She likes having her hair brushed so we decided to get her dolled up for the evening as well. She had gotten a brand new outfit from her aunt Rachel and she looked so adorable in it. We all went to dinner with Mom and Dad Moser, Justin and Melissa, Justin and Rachelle, Jerry and Shannon and Shannon's younger sister Jackie and her friend Troy (we were so excited to see them while they were down.) We ate oh so yummy mexican food and then most of us headed back to Justin and Melissa's to have smores made over their firepit, hot chocolate and play with sparklers. They have a fantastic view of the city from their house so we also got to see all the fireworks. I love spending holidays with family, they make them so memorable. Thanks to Justin and Melissa for hosting it and to dad Moser for doing the sparklers, the kids LOVED it!

CHRISTMAS

For Christmas this year we had Christmas Eve with the Mosers and Christmas Day with the Mangums. This was also Jerry and Shannon's last Christmas here for a while so we decided to spend Christmas Eve night with them at Mom and Dad Moser's house. I am so glad we did. We had such a great time. Christmas morning Cohen and Maddy got little car type things to ride on. They were sooooo cute! Jerry was SHOCKED when he found a full set of lefty golf clubs with his name on them and I was STUNNED when I found a brand new digital camera with my name on it. I'm not going to lie, I cried. I was so excited! I've been wanting one for a long time and I couldn't believe it was actually sitting there. We opened presents then headed over to mom and dad Mangum's for a few more presents and breakfast. Clint had to work that day but he made a special stop at the house with his police car so all the kids could see the lights and sit in the back. They were so excited. At Christmas time we always reflect on the great blessings we have had through the year and this year I was especially grateful. A month before Josh started grad school we decided that I would quit work at the end of the year and be a full time mom. We were both a little nervous since at the time Josh barely had a job and he was getting ready to start school. We decided to put our place up for rent and when I quit we would move in with my parents. Well the first blessing came 2 weeks after Josh started school. He was given a Grad Assistant job at the University and that meant he could spend all day at the school. No more running back and forth, he had 80% of his tuition taken care of and about 80% of his health insurance paid for. On top of all that he received a monthly stipend that ended up being more then we expected. So many blessings, we just couldn't believe it. The hunt for a renter was not going so well so in December we decided to put our place up for sale. December 23rd was my last day of work and it was very bitter sweet. It was hard to wrap my head around the fact that I would be spending my days with our daughter and I was so thrilled and felt sooooo much peace. It was all I had ever wanted. I was going to miss all my friends at work and that meant everybody. It was such a fantastic place to work with great coworkers and a wonderful boss. This job was a huge blessing for our family and I was going to miss the people. I am so grateful for a husband who has such a strong testimony and great faith in our Lord and Savior. This was a step that scared us terribly but we both felt it was time and the Lord wanted me home. Maddy and Josh needed me there and the closer we got to me quitting the more evident it became. I really couldn't have asked for anything more for Christmas. We hadn't had any real bites on our house for a while. We decided not to move in with my parents until we had a renter or until we sold it so we spent the first weeks of the new year just praying for lookers. The middle of January came, we found a renter and within a week we were moved out. It has been such a blessing to be here with my parents. They have helped us so much, we can't express the gratitude and love we have for them and the sacrifices they are making for our little family. It was very sad to leave our ward. We had become a family in that ward and that was how we saw the members. They were truly part of our family and they took care of us very well. I miss my young women terribly and all the leaders I worked with in the program. They all taught me so much and will forever be grateful for their examples. I have a firm testimony in prayer and sacrifice. It is so hard sometimes but the Lord always knows what is best for us. If we could only rely on him more easily we could probably get a lot more of His work done on this earth. I have a firm testimony of family. Being a mother is the greatest gift I could have ever received and having such a wonderful and loving husband next to me is more than I could ever ask for. I am grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and for our Heavenly Father. The sacrifices they made for me are countless. I love them and can't wait for the day I can fall into their arms and know I did all I could to get back to them.

MoTab Christmas Concert

So we were able to get 4 tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert this year and I was soooooo excited. I had never been to one but Josh and his family have when they were young and they just loved it. Mom and Dad Moser came with us and we went and spent the weekend in Salt Lake. We got to stay with Uncle Bill and Aunt Kim and we had such a great time with them. We wish we could have stayed longer. Jessica and Jayden were there with them and we even got a chance to talk to Jessica's husband (sorry I'm having a brain fart on his name) who is on active duty in Iraq. He and Jessica were talking over the webcam so we talked to him and got to see him. We were so grateful for that. We are so thankful to all of our family who are and who have been in the service. Their sacrifice we could never repay but we love you very much and you are always in our prayers. We also got to spend a little time with my little sister Kristin and her husband Ryan. They took Maddy for us while we had dinner and went to the concert. THANKYOU SO MUCH!! Ryan was so sweet, when they brought her back to us we met on Temple Square and Maddy had fallen asleep in the car and he didn't want to wake her up so he carried her from the car to us while she was in her carseat (not an infant seat, a full car seat). He is such a sweet uncle and we just love him tons! We also got a great unexpected surprise and ran into Josh's old mission companion and his little family. It was a total fluke but we are so grateful for those fluke's. Ryan and Sarah have a little girl named Cora who is only 2 days younger than Maddy and it was a little shocking to see how much they look alike. Same big brown eyes and dimples in the exact same place. Sooo cute! We love them and miss them tons but were so grateful to see them. The lights on Temple Square were just exquisite and the concert was phenomenal. It was a great way to start the Christmas season.

One of our favorite traditions around Halloween is when we carve pumpkins with our family. This year we went to Justin and Melissa's home and had munchies and hot chocolate. Mmmmmmm, my favorite. :) On Halloween we went trick or treating with my brother Jeremy and my sister Michelle's kids. Maddy was a giraffe, Josh was a thug and I was some black widow spider thing. We had a total blast and Maddy LOVED that people gave her candy. October was another big month for Maddy because she finally hit 20 lbs (just barely) so she could get a new car seat and see everything from a grand new view. She was so happy!

Madelyn Turns 1!!

Summer Fun Part II

Maddy got her first time in a pool and LOVED it. She was so relaxed in it, we were amazed!She had her first time at a water park for Grandpa Moser's Birthday!

We spent the Fourth of July in Logandale with the Moser Family, this is my favorite. I love having the fourth there. It's a total blast!

t!In August we got the chance to go and visit Krissy and Ryan in Layton and just enjoy a weekend of no plans and a lot of fun. Clint, Michelle and the kids were there too. Thanks Krissy and Ryan for such a great getaway! Josh also started grad school at the end of August at UNLV, It was a sad but very exciting day! (Sad for me, GREAT for him) This was him on his first day of school. Good Luck this year honey, I love you!

So we had a FANTASTIC summer. It started out with Josh graduating UNLV with a Bachelor in Fine Arts emphasis in Architecture. I am so proud of him. He has worked so hard the last 4 or 5 years and it was a touching moment to watch him receive his diploma. Thank you so much to all our family who could attend. All of Josh's family (parents and siblings) made it and I cannot tell you how much that meant to him. He didn't know until after the graduation that they all did and he was really touched. After the graduation we had a get together at a park in Green Valley where we had lots of desserts, water balloon games wich turned into a water ballon fight and everything else that is fun to do at a park. That night I took Josh to a concert in town, David Foster and Friends, which was absolutely phenomenal. It consisted of probably 10 or more music artists performing their most fabulous music. WE LOVED IT!

The next thing in our summer fun was a long awaited trip to Cottonwood,AZ for the Anderson Family Reunion. We had so much fun and it was so hard to leave. We spent a long weekend there filled withreally good food and a lot of really good fun. Thankyou to all the aunts and uncles and cousins who made it a great reunion with so many great memories!

Next step in our summer journey was for Josh to perform in The Wizard of Oz which he had also been working on since March. The play was put on by the Helping Hands Foundation in Las Vegas. It is a charity group that helps to support the senior citizens in our valley. Everyone who performs in the play is a volunteer. They must try out and then if they are cast they start practices for a summer showing that lasts 2 weeks, or ten performances, at the Summerlinb Library. The cast is to provide their own costumes and makeup and all proceeds go to the foundation. It is a really neat opportunity and a great event that Josh and his younger brother Jerry were able to be a part of this year. Josh was cast as the Tin Man and Jerry was cast as the Lion. We made so many friends and reunited with so many old friends. Thankyou for such great memories and mom and pops Moser, THANKYOU for all of your help on the costumes. They turned out amazing. (Josh and his dad made Josh's costume, it really turned out phenomenal)

Catching Up

So we're slowly getting the hang of things on our blog, and so hopefully we will get better at keeping you all updated. On my 25th birthday Maddy turned 6 months old. We can't believe she is growing so quickly. She is more and more adorable everyday and we are reminded every day how blessed we are to have her. She is scooting around backwards, sitting up on her own and trying so hard to get teeth. We had our cousin Marissa take Maddy's 6 month pictures and they all turned out so incredible. Marissa did a MARVELOUS job and we couldn't thank her enough for doing them. Marissa also took family pics of Josh's side of the family. It was the first time they had a family picture done (other than weddings) since before Josh left for his mission. It was really fun and again we are very grateful to Marissa for sharing her talent with us. We love you girl! To see more of her work you can go to her blog at johnandmarissa.blogspot.com.

So I had my 25th birthday. Woohoo! It was wonderful, I got to spend the whole day with Josh and Maddy. (Which was the best part of the day!) Josh and his mom took me shopping and we went to lunch at Red Robin. All the servers there sang to me and brought me ice cream. It was divine! That night we hung out at my sister's house and my best friend Janine (who is now my sister's sister-in-law) brought over donuts and all the family sang to me. It was really sweet and I so appreciate the thoughtfulness. I couldn't have thought of a better way to celebrate the day.

Josh and I also celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary. Our anniversary always falls right in the middle of Josh's finals, which means all nighters for him at the school and very little time anywhere else. Well, he was able to steal away from the school and come and meet me for a very late delicious dinner at PF Changs and just have an hour to ourselves. Thanks Mom Moser for watching Maddy so late. We really appreciated it! I gave Josh tickets to see David Foster and Friends and we are so excited to go! I think I scored some serious cool wife points that night.:) Josh gave me some incredibly gorgeous roses and let me know that after 3 years I am FINALLY going to get our wedding video. YEAH!!! I am so excited to see it. A dear friend of his family did our video for us as a wedding gift but as life always does, it totally got away from all of us and we just never got it all worked out. So during Josh's spring break, he secretly worked on peices of the video with the guy and they are trying very hard to get it done. So hopefully only another couple of weeks and we will get to see it. I can't wait!

This last Saturday our stake held it's first annual stake track meet. It was so fantastic, we loved it. They started the morning off with a 5k run,walk,jog and then held races all the way up until noon. Josh was able to do a peice of the walk with me and Maddy but then had to head off to play practice but I was able to participate all morning. I have never been in anything track related and to be completely honest, I am not a very good runner. Well, I was signed up to be the Relief Society Representative for the 100 meter Dash and then the Young Women Rep for the 8x100 relay. Maddy and I finished the 5k walk at a wopping 40 min and 20 sec. I think the first person that finished was done before I even made it to the 1 mile marker. Ha! Ha! But I was definitley not last. In the 100 meter dash I came in 4th out of 8 runners and in the relay our ward came in 5th or 6th, I can't remeber but man we had a total blast. It could not have been a more perfect day weather wise and I really enjoyed myself. It was really fun to run.

I just wanted to take a minute and let you all know how much I love my husband and how proud of him I am. We found out last Friday night that he was accepted to the Architecture Graduate Program at UNLV. YEAH!!!! It is such a blessing and such a relief. The program only accepted 15 applicants out of 70. Josh said this was the most applications they have ever received since opening the graduate program. I am so proud of him. He has worked so hard the last 4 or 5 years to do well in school and it is totally paying off. I am reminded every day how lucky I am to have him in my life. I am grateful for his love of school and the amazing work ethic he has developed. He is such a great example to me and to Maddy (even though she is small, she will appreciate his work in the future). I love you Josh and hope you know how excited I am for you. You have truly earned this!

Long Time No See

Hello everyone,we just want you all to know that we are still alive and well. Sorry for the long stint in between posts but we were out of a computer for quit some time, but thanks to our wonderful parents and siblings we are finally back on. Some of these pics we put on will be from some time ago, but they are being put on because they are great and because there are a few of you out there who have been waiting for them. First is a pic of my wonderful cousin Leslie and her daughter Raegan who was born a few months earlier than Maddy. She and her husband David had come down to visit not too long after Maddy was born. David took this pic and right as he took it Madelyn spit up all over. David quickly went back to the camera to see if he got it on the picture and well, here is what he got....Sooooo funny!!

For Valentine's Day Madelyn spent some time at Great Grandpa & Grandma Waters where Josh's Aunt Kim and Uncle Bill were visiting from Utah. Grandma Mangum gave Maddy her first Valentine's outfit and she looked so cute.

Later that day we went to dinner with our good friends Jen and Ben at the Cheesecake Factory and afterwards went to the movies, we had a lot of fun.

Several weeks ago Great Grandpa Moser came over to visit and it was great talking with him. It is so neat to be able to have 4 generations all together at one time.

Blessing Day

Well, last Sunday our sweet Maddie was blessed in our wonderful ward. It turned out to be such a nice testimony meeting and an overall great day. After the meeting we took pictures outside the chapel and later we all gathered at Melissa and Justin's house for dinner. It was so nice to be with everyone and Melissa and Justin were so great for letting us use their place. Jody and I are so blessed to have sweet Maddie in our lives and we are even more blessed to be part of such amazing families. We are so thankful to Mom Moser for making Maddie's blessing dress, it turned out so beautiful. Thanks to everyone for their love and support. Just some more of our sweet Maddy

About a week ago my sister-in-laws on the Moser side took pics of all the grandkids as a gift for my Mother-in-law. These are just a couple. Maddy's cousins LOVE holding her. Austin is so sweet with her. The next few are of her funny faces that we get to see everyday. She is such a smiler, I absolutely love it. The pics of her with the big bow on her head are of Halloween. We didn't get a real decent shot of her full costume but I thought these were adorable. The last ones are from last Sunday. My dear friend Janine made her this dress and when we put it on her we couldn't take our eyes off of her. Everyone at church kept asking where we got it and how beautiful she looked. We just had to get some pics of her in it. I'm pretty sure I will be putting that on her until she is popping out of it. I just LOVE it!! Thanks Janine. I am so grateful for my little family. Maddy is such a blessing in our lives and I can't imagine life without her. I am so grateful for a hardworking, dedicated and loving husband. He really is INCREDIBLE! I don't know how he does it all. I love him so much and I feel so lucky to have him in my life. He is becoming a remarkable father, an even better parent than I. I love watching him with Madelyn, they are absolutely my two favorite people. Thank you to all our family and friends for all of the constant love and support. We are so lucky to have you all in our lives.

Halloween Fun

Last week we decided to spend our family home
evening at the pumpkin patch with some friends of ours. It was a lot of fun and there was plenty for the kids to do. It was beautiful outside and we were able to get some cute pictures of Maddy.

Halloween was nice and Maddy looked sooooooo cute in her balerina costume. Once we get pictures we will post them. I am still trying to figure out how all of this blog stuff works, but it's kind of fun. The other pictures are just random cute pictures of our dear Maddy. Hope everyone had fun on Halloween. Finally Here

Well, I finally did it. I actually created a blog for my little family. We have been nagged about not having a blog for so long that I just couldn't take it anymore. I never thought I would see the day when I would join the overwhelming trend of bloggers that have taken over the world...j/k. If anything I think it will be kind of fun designing this thing and it will allow us to keep in contact with all of our friends and family.

Well, to update everyone that already doesn't know, the newest addition to our family came 3 weeks ago. Madelyn Elizabeth was born the 4th of this month at 7 lbs. 4 oz. and 20 in. long. She is truly a great blessing to our lives and I can't imagine not having her. Jody did really well during the delivery, the only thing that sucked was she progressed so quickly from a 4 to an 8 that she didn't end up getting the epidural until she was at an eight. I hope I never have to see Jody in that much pain ever again. Madelyn is a very happy baby and continues to make us laugh with her random spells of smiles. I love holding her and dressing her up in her cute outfits, I am truly a proud papa. The only thing that would make it more enjoyable is if I weren't in school right now, but what am I going to do. I also finished Maddy's room and surprised Jody with it on Labor Day. I had so much fun designing it and making the decor and it goes perfectly with the bed set that my Mom gave us. THANKS MOM!

Well, I have to go back to work now, so I wish everyone a happy haunting this Halloween.
